The Outdated American Educational System
In the last 2 centuries, the curriculum for our students in the public education system has subtlety changed and adapted to the advances in our society.
From the way our daily schedules are structured to the material that is being presented to students in our classroom, the GOVERNMENT has yet to upgrade and innovate the way our students will consume crucial information for their own success in their future careers.
If the government and local communities decided to unite and brainstorm better ideas for the curriculum in the education system like critical thinking, financial literacy, and Interactive activities, it is guaranteed that students will be more equipped to succeed in the real world which is once they leave the formal education.

Students are forced to attend school every day and while some absolutely dislike while others are comfortable with it simply because it is something they enjoy. The American education system performs like every student has the same interests, and goals which force them to memorize those facts and then take an exam to test their knowledge, instead it’s really just testing the student's memorization skills. Elon Musk once said “I think college is basically for fun and to prove that you can do your chores, but they’re not for learning,” This couldn’t be more true as if you take a look and carefully examine how the school system is treating students the student is simply doing chores by listening and doing their homework and have fun which is all the other stuff that comes with and happens in the education system, for example, alcohol, and drugs, which actually shouldn’t be considered fun but it is thanks to Gen Z.
The solution to this issue is simple but is hard to execute. In other words, the concept is simple but getting this to actually happen is going to be a long and difficult process. The solution would be to allow the students to learn what they want and create a new academic curriculum based on subjects that will actually be beneficial to the student’s life in the future. For example, learning about United States history is one of the most useless and time-wasting classes that can be taken by a student who wants to be a future basketball player.
School isn't built for entrepreneurs because entrepreneurs are built to experience failure, think outside of the box, and complete tasks that ordinary human being would not dare do. In the American Education System, we are taught that failing is always bad and because of this ideology, it gives students an “employee mindset”. If one thinks about it, the most successful in the world are most likely entrepreneurs who have most of the time dropped out of school to start and grow their businesses. Lastly, the education system in America was founded in the 17th century and we are in the 21st century, all of the same systems such as reading and doing work all day are not going to educate anyone, rather it is just forcing them to memorize stuff. The only way for our country to get smarter and outperform other countries is to have the US Department of Education go back to the drawing board and create a new education system.

Benjamin Franklin was also known as America’s scientist, inventor, philanthropist, and businessman. Growing up, he was born in a middle-class family and was the youngest son. He had also only attended 2 years of formal education and then transitioned to being an artisan and an architect with his natural-born talent of being extremely gifted. In Franklin’s early years, when he worked in Boston only as an apprentice in his brother’s printing shop, he realized that he had an entrepreneurial spirit because he had always wanted to work for himself and have the ability to do whatever he wanted. Later in his career, William Keith, the Governor of Philadelphia during this time, advised Franklin to move to London to network with other successful individuals, have a place to reside for a short amount of time, and acquire equipment for his skill of writing and start his own business. After a short amount of time, Franklin made his journey back to Philadelphia which lasted almost two and a half months, and continued working for Thomas Denham until he was able to repay his debt since the printing jobs back in London did not pay enough. Although he was one of the geniuses in history, most neglect the fact that his formal education was halted at the age of only 10.
Benjamin Franklin was never really the person to settle working for someone else, which is exactly why he had stopped working in his brother’s printing shop. However, this experience introduced him to the art of printing and journalism. Due to the fact that Benjamin was young and lacked experience, he was in charge of setting the letters for the printer and selling them by being a door-to-door salesman. However, referring back to the fact that Benjamin was equipped with an entrepreneurial spirit, he had a strong desire to write the papers, but unfortunately, he knew his brother would turn that hope down. However, young Benjamin wrote in a newspaper under a pseudonym and was hilariously published by his brother when he confessed. With this happening, Benjamin Franklin went on to run a newspaper himself and start the Pennsylvania Gazette in Philadelphia in 1729. Also, he was later promoted to the role of deputy postmaster general in 1753 of the American colonies mainly because the process and systems he developed were so streamlined and efficient.
Benjamin Franklin was considered to be one of the most successful individuals in American history. From being an entrepreneur to a leader in communications and social media, he did it all. Benjamin’s role as a postmaster enabled him to spread more news and entertainment to the public in an extremely efficient way. It was through his work and knowledge that still enabled us to advance in our technological innovations in regard to science and communications. Hands-on experience, guidance, and failures, it has allowed him to become the successful individual that he is known to be.

Our society is quickly realizing that formal education is not required in order to become successful in life and to make an impact on others. To prove this, the dropout rate is currently 5.7% according to the National Center for Education Statistics. This proves that young pupils realize and have proof that they can pursue a career in a skilled trade or start an online business in order to provide a sustainable income for their families. Also, a career choice such as real estate is in high demand and the benefit is that there is absolutely no formal education required. Real Estate Brokerages like EXP Realty and Keller Williams are constantly searching for young individuals who are looking to pursue a career that can make them wealthy, serve families in their community and make an impact on the housing market.
Its primary shortcomings are directly responsible for key difficulties in our society, such as rising student debt, negative consequences in the US judicial system, and students absorbing information that is of no use to them. As a result, it degrades the quality of our education and has a negative impact on our generation's future pupils. If anything cannot be solved, our educational system, as well as our pupils' intelligence, will most likely lag behind that of our neighbors.
